South Africa’s lawlessness worsens as riots and looking continue across the country and has led to the deaths of 72 people.
Many of the deaths were caused by stampedes as thousands of people stole food, electric appliances, alcohol, and clothing from shops in Durban.
Thieves have ransacked houses and distribution centres and the police and the military sent in to contain the rioters were not in the area.
Locals said the looting happened because there was no food or work and was triggered by the arrest of former President Jacob Zuma.
The authorities have made almost 2,000 arrests across the nation but have not yet brought the situation under control.
